DC TOWNHOUSE

Full-Service Interior Renovation & Decorating in Washington, DC

This 3,300-square-foot townhome located near Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Glover Park, and Spring Valley was transformed through thoughtful interior design, light architectural renovation, and full-service decorating.

Our studio was engaged to reimagine what began as a neutral, white interior into a home filled with personality, color, and unexpected design moments. The client’s vision was simple yet ambitious: to create a residence that brings joy every time one walks through the door.

Rather than treating color as an accent, the design approach used bold hues and pattern pairings as a central design language. Vibrant tones were layered thoughtfully throughout the home while grounding neutrals were strategically introduced to balance the energy of the palette.

Through carefully orchestrated combinations of color, pattern, and texture, the interior evolved from a blank shell into a dynamic environment that feels both playful and sophisticated.

The project draws inspiration from Italian mid-century modern design while also incorporating antique pieces and contemporary furnishings. This mix of periods adds depth and character to the interiors, allowing each room to feel curated rather than overly styled.

Custom furniture design and bespoke millwork elements were developed to complement these pieces and ensure the home maintained visual cohesion despite its eclectic influences.

The resulting aesthetic merges modern design, historic charm, and a sense of humor — reflecting the client’s personality while creating spaces that remain refined and livable.

One of the most interesting challenges of the project was discovering just how bold and expressive the client wanted the home to become. Early conversations revealed a desire to push beyond conventional color palettes and explore more adventurous pairings of pattern, artwork, and furnishings.

Through an iterative design process, our studio developed furniture selections, color schemes, and material combinations that delivered the vibrant atmosphere the client envisioned while maintaining thoughtful balance throughout the home.

Our scope of work included light interior renovations, custom millwork design, custom furniture development, full-service decorating, and complete project management and coordination. By overseeing every stage of the design and installation process, we ensured the final result felt cohesive across all 3,300 square feet of the townhome.

This Washington, DC residence demonstrates how thoughtful interior design can transform a neutral architectural shell into a home that feels expressive, personal, and full of life — proving that bold color, when used intentionally, can create interiors that are both joyful and timeless.
