South of Fifth Townhome Interior Design | Miami Beach

Located in the highly sought-after South of Fifth neighborhood of Miami Beach, this 2,300-square-foot builder-ready townhome was transformed through a comprehensive interior design process that included construction coordination, custom architectural details, and full turnkey decorating.

The project marked an exciting new chapter for a returning client who was preparing for the arrival of their first child. The design challenge was to create a home that would feel sophisticated enough to serve as a backdrop for a growing collection of blue-chip artwork while also offering a relaxed and welcoming environment for a young professional family.

Our studio was engaged from the earliest stages to assemble the construction and permitting team, guide the design vision, and oversee the project through completion — ensuring that architecture, materials, furnishings, and lifestyle needs were seamlessly integrated.

Interior design projects in South of Fifth often require careful coordination between architects, contractors, and permitting professionals. Our studio began the project by assembling the full construction and permitting team, including the general contractor and permit expediter necessary to navigate Miami Beach’s building requirements.

By managing this early phase of the project, we ensured that design intent, construction logistics, and regulatory approvals were aligned from the outset. This approach allows our studio to maintain consistency throughout the project while minimizing delays during the renovation process.

Construction oversight and ongoing coordination with trades ensured that every design element—from custom millwork to lighting installation—was executed precisely as intended.

A key component of the design was the introduction of custom architectural elements that would elevate the builder-ready townhome into a refined residence.

Our studio designed bespoke millwork throughout the home, including integrated cabinetry, custom doors, and architectural storage solutions that enhance both functionality and visual cohesion. Custom window treatments were also developed to provide privacy while maintaining the light-filled atmosphere typical of South Beach homes.

Every architectural detail was carefully considered to support the home’s overall aesthetic while ensuring durability and practicality for a growing family.

Because the homeowners are avid collectors, the interior design approach focused on creating a neutral yet richly textured environment that would complement rather than compete with the artwork displayed throughout the home.

Materials and textures played a leading role in shaping the interiors. Layered fabrics, tailored furnishings, and subtle material contrasts create visual interest while maintaining a calm and elegant atmosphere that allows the artwork to remain the focal point.

At the same time, the spaces were designed to feel comfortable and relaxed for everyday family life. Soft furnishings, durable materials, and thoughtful space planning ensure that the home functions beautifully for both entertaining and daily living.

Our studio oversaw the procurement and coordination of both hard and soft goods for the project. This included the specification of flooring materials, custom furniture design, lighting selections, and the installation of decorative elements throughout the residence.

Custom-designed furnishings were developed to fit the scale and proportions of the townhome while enhancing the overall design narrative. Full turnkey decorating completed the transformation, with artwork placement, accessories, textiles, and styling creating a home that felt cohesive from the moment the clients moved in.

This comprehensive approach allows our studio to deliver fully realized interiors that reflect both the client’s lifestyle and the architectural character of the residence.

The townhome’s outdoor balcony became an important extension of the interior living space. Located just steps from the shoreline, the balcony was designed as a relaxed retreat where the family can enjoy the salty ocean air and vibrant Miami Beach atmosphere.

Comfortable seating and thoughtful layout planning transform the outdoor space into a second living area, reinforcing the connection between the home and its coastal surroundings.

This South of Fifth townhome demonstrates the value of engaging an interior design studio early in the construction process. By guiding the project from team assembly and architectural refinement through final decorating, our studio was able to deliver a home that feels both elevated and deeply personal.

The finished residence reflects a refined interpretation of Miami Beach living — sophisticated enough to showcase a significant art collection while remaining warm, relaxed, and perfectly suited for a growing family.
